Students at Marvin Ward Elementary school ride exercise bikes while reading fun magazines and books to strengthen their minds and bodies! Even though they are staying in place while they pedal, they seem to escape as their favorite authors and magazines help them travel in their imagination. This fun program is believed to be the first in the nation to provide teachers a full classroom of donated exercise bikes for every student to have their own bike to ride for 15 minutes during the day. Classes sign up to use the room all day long–where it is especially popular on the inclement days when recess is cancelled. Students love the opportunity to be active, while learning at the same time!
