What fitness training do i need to do to become a firefighter or police officer?
I want to become really fit to fit one of these roles, but what cardio training do i need to do to manage this? Thanks! xxx
Don’t forget that as well as the physical side of things you’ll need the mental strength to cope with all the rubbish that has been imposed on the emergency services by the Health and Safety nazis – like there having to be THREE firemen together before they can go into an old person’s house because their smoke alarm has gone off. A lot of people with any sense of duty would soon get fed up with such stupid/silly restrictions being imposed upon them by outside bodies who do nothing but justify their own jobs instead of doing something useful ! ! !

Join the gym and get a good fitness regime with a fitness instructor, they have millions of programmes for all different people and reasons, my bro is a fire fighter and he had to do bleep tests etc in the actual test…

As a fire fighter, i can answer that for you. There are specific tests you HAVE TO pass as minimums. They are hiking 3 miles with a 50lb pack on in under 45 mins (that’s to fight wild fires)
Then other tests for structure include climbing stairs, walking on steep treadmills etc.
Honestly, those are the minimum, and you should be able to do it no problem. However, the actual work is harder then that. Still i know a lot of fat/old people who are fire fighters, it makes me nervous, but that’s the way it is.
