Stay in Shape
Would you be open to taking fitness instruction/training from someone who USED to be morbidly obese?
I’m just wondering about becoming an fitness instructor or a trainer after I complete my goals to lose weight and get my health back into shape. I’ve been told I should be a counselor… But that doesn’t sound as appealing to me as being someone’s coach. Appreciate any postitive feedback…..
To be completely honest with you, I would PREFER to be trained by someone who worked so hard to reach their goals. To go from morbidly obese to a fitness instructor is not only challenging, but VERY commendable. I would rather know exactly what this person did to lose so much weight, than to go to a fitness class led by someone who has weighed 100 pounds all their life, trying to tell me what to do about losing weight and being in shape. Hopefully that makes sense. I can’t stress enough though… how much more appealling it would be to me, to be learning from such a hard working, goal oriented individual. Who can teach better than those who have lived through it, right?

ABSOLUTLEY!!! As a matter of fact, I would actually seek out a counselor who was at one point overweight. You have seen what its like on the other side, and you can share your experiences, what works, and what dosent from experience.
Plus, since you were at one point overwight you would more easily understand where your clients are coming from, and probably make them more comfortable with you.
Go for it!!!!! think it’s an excellent idea!

yes i would take instruction from someone who used to be obese…Look at richard Simmons…If you were once obese and get yourself fit ,that would be a great motivator for me….The best thing about it is that you know how people feel that are obese since you have been there. You will be able to understand them better…They will think well if she can do it so can I….
